The Outsiders fanfic chapter 6

.:KAY'S FLASHBACK PART 2:.

Steve and Soda were sitting at the counter talking about cars and sipping their cokes while I was on my break. I sparked up my cigarette and smoked it. I looked out the window and saw Johnny, Ponyboy and Two-Bit walking down, deep in conversation. The door opened and they came and sat next to Steve and Soda, I smiled at Johnny and he said, "Thanks Kay."
"Don't worry Johnnycake! It's ok! They ain't gonna touch you! Trust me!" I laughed. He let out a little laugh and Two-Bit said, "Huh? What happened?" I blew smoke in his face and explained what had happened.
"Oh..wow. I'm sure he'll leave Johnnycake alone now if his manhoods at stake!" Soda laughed, Steve and Two-Bit joining him. "Kay, I want an Ice Cream Soda. Johnny you want one?" Two-Bit asked. He nodded and I sighed. "I'm on my damn break!" I growled."No you're not. Your break ends at 2:30. It's 2:31." Two-Bit muttered. I pushed him off his stool and stormed over to the Soda machine. Johnny tried to hold in a laugh as a waitress tripped and spilt a pink milkshake all over Two-Bit. "Oh, lord! I'm so sorry!" She cried, drying the floor and chucking a towel at him. We were all laughing real hard, except Two-Bit of course, when Rock Baxter, leader of the Tunnel Snakes came in with his crew walked in. The Tunnel Snakes were the hardest gang around town. You didn't want to get on their bad side. All of them have been in the cooler at least 3 times each. There isn't any girls in the gang because none of the chicks around here are 'tough enough'. Pahah. All though you didn't want to get on the bad side of them, being on their good side meant if you had trouble, you could go to them and depending on what it was, they'd help. Our gang wasn't on either side at the moment..
Two-Bit got back up and re-sat himself on his stool and I brought him his Soda and gave Johnny's him. Rock sat down directly in front of me and the rest of his boys saton the empty stools. I pulled out my cigarettes and lit one. He looked at me and said, "Gimme a beer, doll." The words were in my mouth ready to leave, but when I went to say them, nothing came out, so I just nodded. I walked over to the cooler to grab a beer for him. I walked backed to and handed it to him. He nodded in thanks and they walked out. "Wow." Two-Bit said, wiping the rest of the milkshake off him. "They never come round here!" Steve said. "First time for everything I suppose.." Johnny said quietly.
After that, my boss came up to me. "Payton..here's your pay. You don't need to come in the rest of the week.." She said. Confused, I asked, "Why? Have I done something wrong?"
"No but I'm training a new waitress as Daisie's leaving.." She replied. "Oh! Ok, thank you!" I smiled. She nodded and walked away. I un-did my apron and hung it on my peg. Soda grabbed my jacket for me and I put it on. Me and Soda walked hand in hand to his house in the darkness. Steve, Johnny, Ponyboy and Two-Bit behind us. "So, your free all week now?" Soda asked, putting his arm around my shoulder and squeezing me tightly."Yes! Why?" I smiled even though I doubt he saw it. "So I can spend some time with you, doll!" He chuckled. "Hey, now you two save that kinda talk for the bedroom!" Two-Bit laughed. I blushed and Soda said, " I, err, didn't mean it that way! Goddamn it Two-Bit, why does everything have to be that way with you!" I just heard him laugh.
When we got to Soda's house, everyone went in and we stood outside facing each other. "You can stay tonight if you want!" He smiled playfully. "I dunno, mum and dad probably want me back." I sighed, hugging myself to warm up. "It's only 6:30. When you gotta be back? Surely you could stay for a little while!" He begged. "Hmm...I dunno. I should at least ask-" I started to say when Soda grabbed my arm and dragged me into the house. "Heya Kay!" Darry grinned. I glared at Soda whilst I said, "Hey there Darry." I plonked myself on the sofa and as soon as I did, Soda pulled me stright back up again. "Soda! Stop!" I growled as he dragged me to his room. He opened the door and threw me in, then closed the door. "Calm down darlin'!" He chuckled, taking his jacket off and chucking it on the floor. I sighed and rolled my eyes as I did the same. He walked up to me and wrapped his arms around my waist. "Soda! Stop!!" I said again. But he ignored me and started to kiss my neck. He moved his hands up to my shoulders and slid my top straps down. I pushed him away. He just raised an eyebrow. "What?!" He sighed. "I need to go." I moaned. "Why? It's still early!" He protested. "But it's dark." I replied. "What's with you recently? You're always moody now!" He started to shout. "Don't bother Sodapop! I'm not arguing with you." I grabbed my jacket off the floor. I went to leave but he stood in front of the door. "Move." I hissed. "Not until you tell me WHY your so moody!" He shouted. Everyone stopped talking outside and I just stared at Soda. "Ray's doing drugs. He's been in hospital once. Mom's got diagnosed with leukemia, and Dad's turned to liquor." I whispered as I barged past him and slammed the door. "Kay are you-" Steve started to say. I ignored him and walked out the front door, slamming it loudly as I ran down the street towards my house.
I opened the door and saw my brother, Ray, passed out on the sofa. "Ray?! Wake up you dopey shit!" I sighed kicked his arm which was hanging off the side. He mumbled and sat up. "Mom's in hospital.." He sighed, falling back to sleep. My eyes widened and I ran back out the front door.
